In the world of smartphones, Vivo has become known for offering innovative and feature-packed devices at competitive prices. The Vivo Y21 was a new addition to their midrange lineup, with a low-end processor. Well, the Vivo Y21 is quite an old device, launched in August 2021. It comes with a decent design, but in my opinion, the price tag of the Vivo Y21 is not justified.
Notice
Box pack Vivo Y21 price in Pakistan is 53500. But Vivo Y21 is discontinued. But you can still get this in used condition. In used condition, price of Vivo Y21 is around 20k to 30k based on condition.
In India price of Vivo Y21 is ₹ 11000.
Design and Aesthetics
The Vivo Y21 has a premium look and feel with its meticulously crafted design. It comes in two captivating colors – Diamond Glow and Midnight Blue. The device has a sleek and elegant form factor with a unique diamond-cut pattern on the back panel. Despite being made of plastic, it still feels durable and robust. It is lightweight, weighing only 182 grams, making it portable and easy to use.
The volume buttons and side-mounted fingerprint reader are strategically positioned for a seamless user experience. The fingerprint sensor has a lightning-fast response time for secure and hassle-free access. It includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, a Type-C fast charging port, and a single speaker, which adds to its functionality and user-friendliness.
Display
The Vivo Y21 has a large 6.51-inch Halo LCD display with 1600 x 720 pixels resolution. You may enjoy your entertainment and gaming experiences on this screen since the images are clear and colorful. Despite the lack of a high refresh rate, the device’s screen-to-body ratio of 81.8% compensates for this.
The minimal bezels create an immersive viewing experience with vivid colors and crisp details. The display performs exceptionally well in bright sunlight conditions, allowing uninterrupted content consumption and seamless navigation. The device’s powerful speakers complement the impressive display, delivering loud, clear, and engaging audio output.
Performance
The Vivo Y21 has MediaTek Helio P35 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. This configuration provides smooth and reliable performance for day-to-day tasks in 2021. But I think the P35 processor is not a good option for 2024.
Multitasking and Gaming Capabilities
The Vivo Y21 has enough RAM and storage for light usage. And if you are thinking about gaming on Vivo Y21 in 2024 then forget about this. You can only play Ludo, Chess, or Candy Crush.
Expandable Storage and RAM
The Vivo Y21 has expandable storage and RAM capabilities. Users can add up to 256GB of internal storage using a microSD card. This provides ample space for media files, documents, and applications. The device also supports RAM expansion up to 1GB, improving multitasking and performance.
Battery Life
The Vivo Y21 has a 5000mAh battery, which makes it stand out from other mid range phones in 2021, but in 2024 it is normal.
In real-world usage, the Vivo Y21’s screen-on time is impressive, ranging from 9 to 12 hours, depending on how it’s used.
The phone’s standby time is also good, allowing users to go for days without needing to recharge. This makes it a great choice for people with busy lives or who travel frequently.
The Vivo Y21 also supports fast charging, with 18W charging capabilities. This means users can rapidly charge the battery when needed. In just 52 minutes, the phone can be charged to around 70% capacity, and a full charge takes about 2 hours, well 2 hours does not look good in 2024 but in 2021, it was a plus point. This ensures minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
Camera
The Vivo Y21 has a versatile camera setup with a 13MP primary camera, a 2MP macro lens, and an 8MP selfie camera. It delivers impressive results in various shooting scenarios, capturing detailed and vibrant images in well-lit environments.
The macro lens excels at capturing close-up shots with impressive detail and sharpness. The portrait mode and selfie camera offer creative options for stunning portraits and selfies with natural-looking bokeh effects.
However, the device’s low-light capabilities could be improved, as it lacks a dedicated night mode. The video recording supports 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second, but the absence of optical image stabilization may result in shaky footage.
Final Words
In my opinion, Vivo Y21 is a bad choice for 2024. Vivo Y21 has a very weak processor which cannot even handle day-to-day tasks seamlessly. Also, the Vivo Y21 smartphone is discontinued by Vivo. However, it is still available in pre-owned form.
